****Since this race does not have very many access points. Wescorer has a tracking feature that we are going to use this year. No cost to anyone, you just have to make an account with webscorer and download their add onto your phone. After the race delete the app.****
***Free Shuttles: Shuttles will be provided to people only (not gear). Boats and gear will need to be dropped off at the start. Then one of the paddlers can meet at the finish line for a shuttle ride back to the start. Please meet at the finish line @ 7:00am and the shuttle will leave no later than 7:15am. If there ends up being more than one shuttle meet times will be adjusted. You will need to email me at clint.dtxpaddlers@gmail.com and be put on the shuttle list.***
Please join us for the 2023Sabine River Challenge. This is a 31-mile paddle race that starts south of Hawkins, Texas on State Park Hwy 14 and continues to the southside of Gladewater on US 271. This race will take you through some of the beautiful East Texas bottom land. Cost is $35 per paddler and Classes are as follows:
• Aluminum– Canoe Class
• Kayak
• Parent / Child
• SUP
• Unlimited
• USCA– Canoe Class
Race Start: The race will start at 9:00am at the concrete boat ramp on the north side of State Park Hwy 14. When arriving and setting up please do not block or hinder the access to the boat ramp as there could be other boaters on the river. Same day registration will be from 7:45am-8:15am followed by a Pre-race meeting at 8:30am. There are only 2 public access points on the course. One point is roughly 8 miles down on State Hwy 155 and the other at 9.5 miles River Road-356. If you will be receiving any support from your land crew, then they will utilize these two access points.
Shirts will be available to people that signup on or before October 16th. Food and drinks will be provided at the finish line.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed at the launch site or on the course. Portages are authorized along the river banks as long as there is no possible path on the river. All participants are required to have a US Coast Guard approved vest type life jacket in the boat for the number of people in the boat. Follow all state and local laws. Any Canoe class is required to be paddled with a single blade paddle. No kayak paddles. Also, no rudders allowed in Canoe classes. Same day registration will be from 7:45am-8:15am followed by a Pre-race meeting at 8:30am. This will ensure we can promptly begin the race at 9:00am. Boat numbers will be placed on the left side of boat.
